The Club moved to land attached to Donnycarney House in August 1921. This club was re-designed by a well-known golf club architect Harry Colt who was commissioned to lay out a twelve-hole course, comprising outer and inner loops of six holes. The re-designed Club was officially opened in 1923 and was extended to eighteen holes. The new six holes were opened for play in 1927 although these holes were not officially opened until 1928.
The history of the clubhouse dates back to 1781 as a private residence by Robert Carroll and was refurbished in October 1992, at a cost of €1.25million. Now, it is a perfect blend of old and new architecture.
Facilities
A large lounge seats up to 190 people and is maintained to a very high standard of excellence. The bar service provides friendly and well-trained staff to make your stay comfortable. A well stocked Pro-Shop is equipped with variety for you to choose from. All leading brands of golf clubs, clothing and accessories are available here. In addition to that, Clontarf Bowling Club is another important feature of this club. Founded in 1925, it has a membership of 115 people.
