Punchestown Racecourse,
Naas, Co. Kildare

Description: With over 212 years of profound history, the Punchestown race club is surely one of the leading horseracing clubs in the world.

Punchestown Racecourse

Founded in 1793, the Punchestown is considered as Ireland's premier National Hunt Racecourse and is regarded as the natural home of Irish National Hunt Racing. In 1868, the course drew a record crowd of 150,000, which has never been equaled on any racecourse anywhere in the world. Recent development work has seen the racecourse transformed into one of the most modern and impressive racing facilities in the world.

Ireland is renowned for its unique and friendly atmosphere. No place is seen to be better than Punchestown, where each event is taken as a festival and enjoyed to its fullest. The racecourse has recently undergone a massive re-development, which has seen it transformed into a state of the art complex, capable of catering for huge crowds, which are attracted each year.

Restaurants and Facilities
From the time of its establishment until now, Punchestown racecourse has developed into a modern racing club having all the up-to-date facilities available within the club. It has top-class restaurant facilities within its horizon, huge restaurant overlooking the racecourse, seafood bar, and champagne bar as well as other facilities throughout the grandstand. In addition to that, private suites are also available with excellent view of the racecourse. These all facilities make your stay luxurious and let you enjoy the enthralling horse races, to their fullest.

Transport to Punchestown Racecourse
During the National Hunt Festival and on racedays, a special bus service serves the racecourse. The racecourse is approximately 3 miles from Naas, around 45 minutes from Dublin and approximately an hour from Dublin Airport.

Racecourse Awards
Punchstown Racecourse was awarded the Best Racecourse of the year award at the second running of the Irish Stable Staff Association Awards held in January 2005.

Dick O'Sullivan, manager of Punchsetown accepted the award:

"This award means so much to us in Punchestown. There have been many times recently when our name was in highlights for all the wrong reasons and it's a pleasure to have it in highlights for the right reasons now.

"Stable staff often work long hours in difficult conditions and it is very pleasing that they feel the facilities we have merit this award. Since Punchestown was redeveloped in 1998 it was obvious to many race goers that the facilities had improved dramatically but not obvious that we had top class facilities behind the scenes.

"We will continue to improve all facilities at Punchestown for both race goers and stable staff and look forward to a prosperous remainder to 2005."
