The Merrion, Dublin's most luxurious 5-Star Luxury hotel, is created from four grade one listed Georgian Townhouses and a contemporary Garden Wing. Since opening in 1997, The Merrion Hotel has established itself as the epitome of relaxed grandeur, welcoming Dubliners and visitors to the city with stunningly ap pointed rooms, crackling turf fires and a host of facilities.

From the start, the Restoration of The Merrion demanded the highest standards and the designers' brief was both simple and clear - "To create a space with sensitivity to the 18th century heritage of the building, with light and airy bedrooms."

As a result, the 125 guest rooms and 20 suites are the epitome of elegance and also supremely inviting and comfortable. The interior is designed using Irish fabrics and antiques to reflect the architecture and original interiors of the 18th Century Townhouses.

Location of The Merrion Hotel
The Merrion stands directly opposite Government Buildings in the heart of Dublin city centre.

On the doorstep is Upper Merrion Street, where Government Buildings, The National Gallery and The Natural History Museum are located. A short walk leads to the adjacent "golden mile" of lively pubs, shops and restaurants dotted around St. Stephen's Green. Grafton Street is a leisurely stroll away for all the latest designer shops.

The Merrion's location is also surrounded by commerce and industry - business people coming to and from work as the city centre bustles with action. Weekends in contrast are peaceful. Horse-drawn carriages clip-clop past the Georgian railings of nearby Merrion Square, which are hung with the work of local exhibiting artists.

Bedroom and Suites
The Restoration of The Merrion demanded the highest standards. The 122 guest rooms and 22 suites at Merrion are the epitome of elegance and also supremely inviting and comfortable. The Interior is designed using Irish fabrics and antiques to reflect the architecture and original interiors of the 18th century.

Art at The Merrion
The Merrion Hotel houses a spectacular collection of 19th and 20th Century art which is widely considered to be one of the most important private collections in Ireland. The Merrion's grand interiors offer the perfect backdrop for these works, resulting in a dramatic and successful marriage of classical architecture and contemporary art.

Gardens at The Merrion
One of the most distinctive and unusual features of The Merrion is its two landscaped period gardens, designed by Jim Reynolds the noted Irish landscape artist.

The smaller of the two, known as "Lady Mornington's Garden" links The Main House to the Garden Wing. This contemporary wing completes the enclosure of the garden, so that many of the guestrooms enjoy views over the large central garden. Both gardens re-create the feel of an 18th century garden with box hedges, water features, pathways, statuary and obelisks.

In summer, the large garden becomes an extension of the drawing rooms in The Main House, with waiter service so that guests can dine al fresco.

Bars & Restaurants
The Merrion Hotel offers its guests a choice of two restaurants, The Cellar Restaurant and the renowned Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Dublin's most award winning and acclaimed restaurant. Bars include The Cellar Bar set in the original wine vaults and the intimate cocktail bar, No. 23
