Review: Hollywood showbiz industry has produced many blockbuster horror movies. Few of them came up with the potential to impart an intensive beckon of fear on viewers in true meanings. "The covenant" is a new suspense horror movie enlarging the list of Hollywood horror movies, directed by Renny Harlin.
The covenant is about five families wielding strange powers living in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts in 1962. One of the families was thought to have been killed off during the Salem Witch Hunts. These powers are passed down from father to son but they formed a covenant of silence.
Fast forward to present days, descendants of the original families who have also been born with special powers are the four coolest kids in school. The film basically focuses on the four teenagers as they start to use their new powers. Over summer school they cause havoc and release evil forces into the world. They show up at the summer blow-off party and in the span of five minutes, persuade the new girl on campus to meet the new guy on campus, and lead the police on a high speed off-road chase off a cliff. The story then moves along and four years later a long lost fifth descendant moves into the town and goes to war against the group.
At many points during the film it ll be feeling like it's no more gratifying but testing your stomach. It is starring Steven Strait, Sebastian Stan, Laura Ramsey, Taylor Kitsch, Toby Hemingway.
