Ardgillan Castle

Ardgillan Castle is an 18th century country manor house built by Rev. Robert Taylor and is surrounded by 80 hectares of woodlands and gardens. Ardgillan is famous among Dublin's regional parks for the view it enjoys. Offering a spectacular view of the Drogheda Bay, Ardgillan Castle is spread over 194 acres of rolling green land.

Comprising of pasture land, wood land and gardens, it is a secluded haven and provides comfort and relaxation after a long and tiring day of sight seeing. Besides hosting a number of tourists, Ardgillan is home to a number of animal species and birds.

Built in 1738, this Georgian and Victorian style castle consists of two stories over a basement which extends out under the south lawns. The ground floor is wheel chair friendly and also includes the Morning room, Dining room and Library. The first floor plays host to exhibitions as Ardgillan has a permanent display of maps dating back to the 17th century.

The garden contains Victorian conservatory and Rose garden. A unique 20 alcove fruit wall is one of the features of the Walled Garden, which also includes sections for herbs, vegetables and Irish plants.
