For 30 years, King Sitric has been serving its customers with the best fish in Ireland. Established in 1971, Aidan and Joan MacManus have earned an international reputation for fresh seafood in their harbour-side restaurant in the picturesque fishing village of Howth. The restaurant is 20 minutes from the bustle of Dublin City and Dublin Airport.
Fresh fish is landed daily on Howth Pier, oysters and mussels come from the West Of Ireland, lobster and crab claws are caught by the restaurants own fishermen in Balscadden Bay.
History
Aidan and Joan MacManus' striking harbourside restaurant is named after an 11th century Norse King of Dublin who had close links with Howth and was a cousin of the legendary Brian Boru. It is one of Dublin's longest established fine dining restaurants - and, from its East Pier site, chef-patron Aidan MacManus can keep an eye on his lobster pots in Balscadden Bay on one side and the fishing boats coming into harbour on the other. Completely re-built in 1999, this traditional restaurant has blossomed into a fine contemporary space, with first floor dining to take full advantage of the views (notably at lunch, which is especially good value too).
Directions From Dublin City Centre
Make your way to either O'Connell Street Bridge or Butt Bridge. Immediately you cross either bridge in a Northwards direction, you should pick up signs to Fairview and Howth (R105). It is a straight road, approx. 9 miles. On entering Howth Harbour, come all the way across the Harbour Front, King Sitric is the big red building at the top of the far pier.
