Les Freres Jacques

Les Freres Jacques is a French restaurant in the classical style. Run by proprietor Jean-Jacques Caillabet, the restaurant is entirely staffed by French natives. This gives the restaurant an ambience that imparts a true sense of French style and setting while adding to the enjoyment of the food and occasion. There is always a relaxed lively atmosphere, often enhanced by live piano music, with the accent on friendliness and informality.

Jean-Jacques delights in serving the freshest of Irish fish and seafood, prepared "A la Francaise" to a discerning clientele. The A La Carte menu changes every season so you will be assure of the finest fare all year round. It features game, meat and fish, as well as a selection of desserts, home baked bread, French and Irish Farm cheeses. At short notice, the chef will cater for vegetarian guests. The Table d'Hote menus change weekly, according to market supply

History
One of Dublin's best and indeed best known quality restaurants, Les Freres Jacques is situated in the heart of Dublin city, just a few doors from the Olympia Theatre on Dublin's bustling Dame Street and touching Dublin's now famous left bank, Temple Bar. The restaurant was established in 1986 and traditional French food is served with the emphasis on a wide choice of Irish fish and shellfish selected daily from the local markets.

Les Freres Jacques has a unique French atmosphere with the accent on friendliness and Informality. Combined with its varied A La carte and Table d'Hote menus this fashionable restaurant has earned many accolades over the years.

Lunch offers at least three choices on each course, plus a few luxurious options from the - la carte listed as extras; west coast mussel risotto with a saffron cream, roast lamb tian with aubergine, courgette and thyme juices and strawberry tiramisu with a red fruit coulis are all typical. The - la carte offers classics such as west coast oysters (native or rock) and grilled lobster, individually priced, and there may be game in season. Finish with cheeses (including some Irish ones) or a classic dessert like warm thin apple tart (baked to order), with a rum and raisin ice cream. The wine list naturally favors France and makes interesting reading, notably the two pages of "recommendations du patron" (en rouge et blanc).
