Welcome to Matt the Thresher and our Seafood Bar & Grill
Matt the Thresher is a bright stylish city centre bar located in the heart of Georgian Dublin, just off Baggot Street near St. Stephens Green (Formerly the Pembroke Pub).
We specialise in fresh Irish seafood which we source directly from the harbours around the island. But we also sell the most tender of beef which we bring from our famous Inn and Restaurant in County Tipperary.
The kitchen is led by well known chef and seafood connoisseur Stephen Caviston who has a life time of experience in all aspects of the seafood industry.
Our aim is to bring you simply cooked fresh fish, with a friendly service, in a beautiful city centre bar at a reasonable price.

Each morning we take delivery of the freshest fish, not just from the local Dublin Harbours, but also from Harbours located on the Western Atlantic Coast. Weekly Wine Tasting
Join us in Matt The Threshers every Tuesday evening for our exciting new wine tasting experience. Presented by our in house sommelier Justin OHanlon, this wonderful look at some of our finest and most exciting wines, incorporates our eclectic tapas/taster dish menu, for a unique fusion of food and wine, an intriguing and educational experience for foodies and wine lovers alike.
The tasting features 3 white wines and 3 red wines, each of which has been specifically matched and tailored to an accompanying tapas dish. Each wine will be tasted and discussed by the guests, and then tasted again with the accompanying dish, examining the differences in tastes, flavours, and sensations of the wine by itself and then with the accompanying dish. Each guest will be given an informative handout with a tasting guide, information on how to match food and wine, styles and varietals that are natural matches for specific food groups, with a number of classic pairings listed also. There is also a detailed breakdown on the 6 wines guests will try, the producer, the region and the grape varietals used, with space for taking your own tasting notes.
This is a casual event, bringing friends, family, colleagues, and clients together for a fun and entertaining evening, where a mutual appreciation of good food, good fun, and good wine is paramount. It is a unique experience that can be appreciated and enjoyed by those who have little to no knowledge of wine as much as those who have a more serious interest. We have a wonderful range of regions, styles, and flavours to savour in the comfort of our beautiful Pembroke St. premises in Dublins city centre.
The cost per person is 30 which is an all inclusive price for the evening, and has been carefully structured to ensure guests are paying exactly what they would were they to purchase the food and wine individually, a fantastic evening of sensory indulgence awaits, and we look forward to seeing you down here. The evening is available by reservation only and is for groups of 2-12 people, for an individual booking please contact the restaurant and we will ensure you are added to a tasting group on a suitable night.
