The Old Punch Bowl

The Old Punch Bowl has the warm atmosphere of an Irish pub, with regular live sessions of Traditional Irish Music, together with a great selection of dishes in its bar menu and in the Latinos restaurant upstairs.

The Old Punch Bowl Bar & Restaurant is situated close to Dublin's city centre along the seafront. The interior decor of this old coachhouse (first licensed in 1779) pays homage to the architectural style of the 1800's. Dating back to 1779 - Today an establishment serving excellent food and drink featuring distinctive Bars and Restaurant

The Restaurant features candlelight dining in an old country atmosphere. Natural stone and wood are the welcoming features. Our restaurant is relaxing, cheerful yet cosy. Dining each evening throughout the week commence at 6:00pm with last order at 10:30pm. An early bird menu is also available. Visit The Restaurant and enjoy good food and wines at realistic prices. The Old Punch Bowl, run by Alan, offers a great choice of dishes from bar bites, char grilled beef, fish and poultry to vegetarian stir-fry. In addition to its variety of sandwiches, it has an Irish Special of the day.

Upstairs, Latinos restaurant, sample menu the punch bowl is open seven nights a week and specializes in fresh seafood. Its A La Carte Menu offers a great choice of courses, with fish, meat, pasta and poultry dishes, and an amazing wine menu, featuring red and white wines from all over the world, as well as Sparkling wine and Champagne.

Activities
There are plenty of things happening at The Old Punch Bowl at present. Musicians, Storytellers, sample menu the punch bowl and the like are regularly featured and contribute greatly to the unique character of the place. There is a Pub Quiz every two months that you can join in on. Why not come along every Tuesday and catch some of the live Traditional Irish Music adding to the warm atmosphere of the Bar. Why not stay on a while? The Food is served untill 10pm and Kids are more than welcome in the restaurant area. The Childrens Menu can be viewed here along with the 'A la Carte'.

The Old Punch Bowl is served by The DART, (which stops opposite us, at Booterstown Station) along with the following Buses: 7, 7A 8 and 45

Sport
There is a Big Screen available for your enjoyment in each room for any rugby matches or sporting events that might be on.

The Heineken Cup
Leinster will be playing some great matches over the next few months as part of the Heineken Cup and The Old Punch Bowl will have great coverage of the matches on the big screen tv's in the lounge. Enjoy a drink or a bite to eat before and after the match at The Old Punch Bowl Bar.

History
It was once the haunt of notorious highwaymen in the late 17th Century and was first licensed in 1792, when the landlord of the day served such noterieties as Fitzwilliams, Barons of Thorncastle and Viscounts of Merrion. The same hospitality can be enjoyed today in traditional surroundings whether dining in the Restaurant, or soaking up the atmosphere in the Bar.

Our own Beef Lasagna with Bechamel Sauce Served with Chips.

Canelloni:
Pancake stuffed with Minced Beef, onion, Garlic, Cheese, Egg and Mixed Herbs, served with chips.

Spaghetti Carbonara:
Smoked Bacon with Rich Creamy Sauce.

Fried Dublin Bay Scampi:
Served with Rice and Spicy Pomodore Sauce.

Pesce Spada in Ghuazzeto:
Swordfish Pan Fried with Tomato, Garlic, Chilli, Basil, Prawns and Squid served with Mashed Potato.

T-Bone Steak:
Served with Chips, Sauteed Onions and Pepper Sauce.

Scaloppina All Funghi:
Escalope of Veal with White Wine and Mushroom Sauce, served with Mash Potato.
