Old Belvedere R.F.C was established in 1930 when it first took the field during the 1930-31 season. In 1936 and 1937 Old Belvedere won the Metropolitan Cup, and that was the first step in kicking off their achievements. As a result, Senior Status was secured in 1937. In the period 1940 to 1946 Old Belvedere R.F.C. won the Leinster Senior Cup in seven successive seasons - a record, still unbroken and were narrowly beaten in the final the following season.

In the1992/93 season, Belvedere RFC won the Leinster League. That win ensured the club of a place in the All Ireland League Division II for the season 1993/1994. In season 1994/1995, the club progressed to Division 1 of the All Ireland League. In its seventy five years history, Belvedere Rugby Football Club has won sixty six Leinster Branch I.R.F.U. trophies including ten Leinster Senior Cups, and three under 19 / 20s McCorry Cups; showing the greatness of this team.
