Description: International Sailing association is the national governing body for sailing in Ireland. As a national body it promotes and co-ordinates activities for competitive and leisure sailing. It also administers a range of training services, including motor cruising, dinghy sailing, wind surfing and power boating.

The Irish Sailing Association

The Irish Sailing Association is the national governing body for sailing in Ireland. As national governing body, the ISA promotes high standards and co-ordinates activities in competitive and leisure sailing in Ireland.

The ISA constantly monitors and reviews developments in sailing and boating and represents the interests of its members and other sailing and boating enthusiasts with government and international agencies.
The Irish Sailing Association also develops and administers a range of training and other services to support both members and all those involved in sailing and boating of all types, which currently include:

- Dinghy sailing
- Sail cruiser sailing
- Motor cruiser sailing
- Motor cruising (Inland Waterways)
- Powerboating
- Windsurfing
- Personal watercraft

Dinghy sailing
The ISA's Sailing Schemes will allow you to learn and develop your sailing skills from absolute beginner to expert sailor, in the type of boat that you want to sail.

Courses are offered in catamarans, small keelboats, sailing dinghies. You can choose to sail in a boat on your own or with other people.

Sail cruiser sailing
A number of cruising sail yacht courses are offered at the Irish Sailing Association which range from beginner level and introductory courses to expert level ones.

Motor cruiser sailing
Cruising Motor Yacht Courses start from a beginner level Helmsmans Certificate course where participants are provided with the basic boat handling and seamanship skills to the Yacht master Ocean Certificate course which aims to certify a sailors ability to skipper a sail or motor yacht on ocean passages without the use of electronic aids, where the yacht will be out of sight of land for extended periods.

Motor cruising (Inland Waterways)
The Inland Waterways Motor Boat Training Scheme consists of 2 short courses, one for the beginner and another for the expert which provide training for Motor Cruising.

Powerboating
The ISA's Powered Craft Schemes will allow you to learn and develop your skills from absolute beginner to expert, in the type of powered craft that you want to drive.

Windsurfing
Windsurfing is now much easier and more fun to learn than it was several years ago. The Go! Windsurfing scheme by The Irish Sailing Association is designed to enable you to discover the sport for yourself under the guidance of highly skilled and qualified instructors.

Personal watercraft
The one day personal Watercraft Course covers general instructions and special instructions for being on shore and being afloat.
