 |
A project of South Country Council opened in March 1999 the Civic theatre hosts a number of features, as follows:
Huge Auditorium containing 282 seats
Studio space 60-70 seats
Gallery
Theatre bar
Day time Cafe
The theatre and bar is open from 10 am to 3:30 pm from Monday, to Friday. Cafe quenches the thirst and hunger by providing a number of snacks, lunch and a variety of coffees.
The bar service activates in the evening, serving during the interval and before the show starts.
Keeping the entertainment factor in mind, Civic theatre equally caters to the need of the disabled. Special hearing loops are available which provide ample sound for those with hearing disabilities. Besides this special designated chairs are also available. Providing ample car parking space and that too free Civic theatre takes care of the needs of all its guests. All shows start at 8 sharp in the main auditorium. Late comers are admitted only in case of a suitable break in the play or during interval.
The Civic Theatre is now managed by an independent limited company, under a tenancy and management agreement. The theatre has a grant aided by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands.
