In 1988, The Millbank Theatre was opened by the Rush Dramatic Society. A purpose-built theatre in the town of Rush, and it has been their home for the last 20 years. During that time, they have produced over 70 plays.
The 1980s was a golden period for Rush Dramatic Society, as they qualified for five All-Ireland Drama Finals. Then in 1986 the Society purchased a property at Chapel Green, Rush and through Government/Local Authority grant aid, its own resources and a FAS Project, the Millbank Theatre opened
