Description: The O'Reilly was created with two purposes: to create a downtown home for Pittsburgh Public Theater and to create additional venues for theater, music and other performances.
The OReillyTheatre was built in 2000 as both a resource for Belvedere College and as a venue for Irish and international performers. The aim of the OReillyTheatre is to present a high quality, diverse and original programme with an emphasis on cross/ multi/ inter cultural and new music presentations and to nurture an audience for this activity. Since 2004, the OReillyTheatre have established a unique partnership with Crash Ensemble as the OReilly's residential group. The Theatre sees Crash's residency as the cornerstone of its innovative music programme.
The space comprises one large theatre space. With fully retractable raked seating and a motorized stage platform, the auditorium is a highly adaptable space and boasts one of the widest stages in Dublin, which can accommodate 530 people seated or 1000 people standing. The OReillyTheatre also boasts extensive backstage facilities and dressing rooms, a bar/refreshment area, a lecture theatre and meeting rooms.
The O'Reilly Theatre is located on Denmark Street, 5 minutes walk from O Connell Street. It is well served by public transport. There is car-parking at the venue (Temple Street) and disc car-parking is available on nearby streets.
