Dvoř?k Symphonic Variations
Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paginini
Dvoř?k Symphony No. 8
Ranked among the premiere symphony orchestras in Europe, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra has enjoyed collaborations with many world-class conductors and musicians. The first ever concert of the Czech Philharmonic took place under the baton of Anton Dvorak in 1896. It is only fitting then that the Orchestra who celebrates 110 years of its existence this year should perform two of Dvorak's great works led by Czech Maestro Jiri Belohlavek. Joining the orchestra on stage for this performance is "the biggest most exciting young keyboard talent" on the concert circuit; Lang Lang. Embodying a rare combination of exceptional skill and natural charisma, Chinese pianist Lang Lang is a genuine musical legend in the making. He has progressed from one triumphant appearance to the next, including performances with all 'big five' American orchestras, successful Carnegie Hall and BBC Proms debuts in 2001, and a widely acclaimed 2006 release of his Deutsche Gramophone recital album 'Memory'. We are delighted to welcome him back following his 2005 sell-out performance here at the National Concert Hall.
