City Fusion - Community groups from different cultural backgrounds and areas of Dublin city are currently working with a team of artists to create a pageant for St Patrick's Festival parade.
The City Fusion pageant 'Chameleon City' is the response of 16 community groups with over 200 participants to the parade theme of Legendary. 'Chameleon City' is a legend for today featuring colourful stories of the growing, ever changing city of Dublin.
City Fusion is St Patrick's Festival's largest outreach initiative and an expression of the positive contribution of new and established communities to the life of Dublin city. Participants on the project meet weekly for workshops in prop & costume making, performance, music and dance. A multi-cultural artistic team, with a range of skills from circus to salsa, is working with groups which include Irish, French, Polish, Lithuanian, African, Indonesian and Indian participants.
City Fusion offers an opportunity for Dubliners new and old to come together to share cultures and experiences celebrating what people have in common and reflecting the new Irish identity. 'Chameleon City' promises to be a vibrant, fun filled celebration of the life of modern Dublin.
