Tarantella Fall launch their second single 'Wasteland' as a free download from tarantellafall.bandcamp.com on February 10th with a free gig in Captains Live, Blanchardstown. The track has already featured on 'The Importance of Being Whatever', a teen drama that broadcast on RTÉ 2 late late last year. The song is taken from their debut album 'Abandoned Road' which was released at the end of March 2011 with a sold-out show in the Workmans Club, Dublin. The long-player contains a set of themed songs that could have been written for a speculative noir B-picture set in the American heartland. It tells the the fictional story from various parts of the life of John W and is the kind of record the Coen Brothers would've made had they picked up telecasters instead of 16mm cameras. Songs from the album have been played on many radio stations around the country including the Dan Hegarty show on RTÉ 2fm, The John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio 1, Ruairi Carroll on FM104, 98fm, Phantom 106.8, Paul McLoone on Today FM, Cork 103, Q102, Beat FM, Kerry FM, Kildare FM & Ocean FM to but name a few.
“... lyrically, it’s reminiscent of the storytelling of Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen or Willie Vlautin. Musically, it veers between the alt. rock musings of REM, the heavy guitar workouts of Neil Young, and the sinister atmospherics of Slint. Conceptually, it conjures up thoughts of a David Lynch or Coen brothers road movie with some Tim Burton-esque twists and turns.”
