Theatre Company Rough Magic, in association with TheEmergencyRoom, is back with its first show of 2010 - the world premiere of Sodome, my love by Laurent Gaudé. This exciting new production will be directed by Rough Magic Artistic Director Lynne Parker.

Olwen Fouéré in her most striking role to date plays the role of the last daughter of the city of Sodome - a city once filled with joy and excess, freedom and sensuality, but then cruelly destroyed. For centuries, the true story behind the destruction of this notorious city has remained untold. But as the sky breaks and the rain falls, a downpour slowly awakens a woman buried for centuries, caked in salt. This single survivor of Sodome, has emerged to unravel the myth, to tell the true tale. She steps towards us out of time, defiant, seductive, unveiled.

Rough Magic has compiled an outstanding creative team for this world premiere. The work is performed and translated by Olwen Fouéré, one of Ireland’s most prolific and daring actors (Paula Spencer, By The Bog of Cats, The Bull, Salomé). Rough Magic’s Artistic Director Lynne Parker has directed many award-winning productions including Improbable Frequency, Don Carlos and The Taming of the Shrew.

Writer Laurent Gaudé has written a number of plays and novels. He is winner of France’s most prestigious literary honour, Prix Goncourt and is best known for his novel Le Soleil des Scorta (The House of Scorta) which has been published in almost twenty countries.
