Review

The Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre is the crowning glory of Grafton Street "Dublin’s premier retail precinct." This shopping emporium is unique in several ways. Its interior, in terms of design concept and strong detail sets itself apart, if not above, the retail malls of the world. After 22 years its special sense of occasion has never diminished. The difference is this: it has an atmosphere of serenity which, for once gives validity to the phrase "retail therapy." From the 2nd floor level the view is sheer spectacularity. The gleaming dignity of the white décor (with a touch of light green) has never been despoiled by intrusive signage. The only concession has been colourful banners with images of Dublin Castle, the Book of Kells and Liberty Hall. A distinguishing feature of the retail combination is the number of owner-occupiers whose businesses have thrived from the beginning. The balcony art display is an enriching cultural element. Stephen’s Green Centre is an unmissable experience for tourists who can shop till they drop into one of the coffee areas or restaurants. The variety of top of the range women’s and men’s fashion stores is a major attraction. The feel good factor and the inspirational ambience have made the Centre a prime launching pad and exhibition area.
