Founded in 1030 by Sitriuc King Christ Church Cathedral is oldest and most recognized landmark in Dublin. Perfect places to visit when considering things to do in Dublin. Visitors are welcome to the weekly and Sunday services. Situated in the heart of Dublin this church is shrouded in history and is also the proud holder of Dublin's legacy.
Christ Church Cathedral is one of Ireland's oldest and most famous landmarks. The cathedral was founded c1030 by King Sitriuc Silkenbeard, in what was once the heart of Medieval Dublin. A mixture of Gothic, Victorian and Romanesque architecture, it is a must see when considering things to do in Dublin.
Upon entering Christ Church Cathedral you are whisked back in time all the while enjoying modern amenities like the café and gift shop in the crypt. The cathedral does have regular services and all are welcome to attend no matter what their faith.
Please note that during service that the peace must be observed and photographs will not be permitted at this time.
When visiting Christ Church Cathedral, entry to the King's Treasury and the crypt is included in the admission price. The King's Treasury houses some of the finest treasure in Ireland including the stunning gilt plate donated by William of Orange after the Battle of the Boyne.
The crypt is the oldest structure still in use in Dublin. Housing the famous cat and rat along with the award winning costumes from the popular TV show The Tudors (much of which was filmed there).
The crypt is a stunning space which can also be rented out for events such as wedding receptions, Gala Dinners and Launches. Historically speaking the Cathedral has everything and one of the best places to visit in Dublin.
